I am the mother of a 1-year old and a 3-year old. I, like many other parents, am concerned about the type of programming available to children. Both of my children love Little Playdates and I highly approve of the DVD. My 3-year old likes to sing and dance to the DVD, while my 1-year old loves the music. This is something that allows my children to listen to good music and interact with other children in a DVD format. With so much negative influences in the media, it is a breath of fresh air to see someone bring kids programming back to the basics which is fun music and interactive singing and playing with other children.

Our two year old daughter McKenzey, loves Little Playdates.  It has been the only show we can think of where it captivates her attention the whole time.  She even has it memorized to where she knows what scene will be next and often mimicks what the characters are doing in the show.  We feel it to be a very uplifting and positive program for her as she dances and sings along.  It get’s her up out of her seat and participating, rather than just sitting.
    Thanks,

    Jo Anne-
    Honest opinion,
    I think it looks great!
It is amazing to me that it’s the first DVD you’ve made because it looks so great. It is really impressive. My kids love it. We’ve been watching it in the car when we drive. It’s cool that it keeps the attention of a 10 month old, 3 year-old, and 5 year-old. Very neat. I don’t know of any other DVD, or any activity for that matter, that does that.

    Thank you.

    JoAnne,
Thank you so much for the tickets to the Premier of Little
Playdates. My girlfriend and I were there and all night she talked
About different aspects of the program. Will they have more? Where did
they find the kids? How did they come up with this idea? On and on and
on… I think she enjoyed it; we talked about it until 11:00 pm or
    later.

I was pleased to see how many people did make it considering the
weather. I have shared my experience with the producers of Good Things
Utah and will continue to pitch Little Playdates for our show.

If there is anything I can do to assist you in getting the word out,
please call on me. Thanks again and I know Little Playdates will be
    BIG.

    JoAnne,

My mom has given out the 6 DVD’s she bought at the premier and has had VERY positive feedback.  Everyone is absolutely freaking out over it.  My babysitter said the same thing and has been showing it to all the moms when they pick up their kids.

    Great job you guys!!!

  6. G Batty Says:

    JoAnne and Trent,

I wanted to share with you a personal reason that I believe Little Playdates is something truly inspired. I may be a bit biased, but after dedicating almost 1 year to this project, I’m entitled to a offer up a biased testimonial!

As you know, Sherrie and I have a 2 year old child, Canyon, with us in Foster Care.  He came into our home mid January, 2006.  When he first arrived in our home, he was incredibly shy, to the point that doctors and psychologists had labeled him “developmentally delayed.”  Sherrie and I focused on helping him come out of his shell, by reading books with him, playing with him, and encouraging him to interact with other children.  After a few weeks, we took him to a playground, and he was terribly out of place when other children were around.  On one occasion, he noticed a little boy of a different race, and all he could do was point and stare.  It was completely awkward for everyone involved.
A few weeks later we went on a road trip, and brought along a copy of “Little Playdates,” along with other children’s DVD’s, hoping that Canyon would be entertained for at least some of the 12 hour drive.  We put in the DVD, and he watched it through completely.  We then put in a popular Disney children’s movie, and within 5 minutes, Canyon was yelling for “Balls!  Balls!” referring of course to the first scene in “Little Playdates,” where the kids are playing with the colorful balls.  We switched movies, and he was overjoyed.  As soon as the end credits would roll, he would cheer for more.  We didn’t have to change the movie for the entire trip!  We were both very pleased.
Last week, Canyon was going to meet family cousins for the first time.  We were nervous how he’d react, after seeing his shyness and social awkwardness on the playground a few weeks prior.  When he walked into the family gathering, and saw other kids his own age, it was as if he had found some long-lost friends.  He played the entire evening with his new cousins.  No shyness, no awkward pointing, and no absolutely signs of being “developmentally delayed.”
I know that there are many things that contribute to a child’s development.  I can say that “Little Playdates” has been an inspired product that, without a doubt, has helped Canyon come out of his shell, and share positive social interaction with other children.  Thanks for dedicating yourselves so passionately to a good cause.  Your vision is truly making a difference.

    Sincerely,
    Garrett Batty

  7. Dan B Says:

I’m not yet a parent but I will be soon. I do however have many young
children in my immediate family and extended family. I was fortunate enough
to be at the premier of Little Friends and it was quite interesting looking around at all the young children and seeing how happy and extremely interested they were in what was playing out in front of them on screen. I
personally was extremely impressed by Little Playdates, Little Friends.
This “vehicle”, if used correctly, will only help young children develop
critical social skills they can’t learn from staring at the ceiling or a
dangling baby toy. Young minds are really more vulnerable and teachable then
we really take notice of most the time. Little children, starting at a very
young age, are like sponges. Why not fill the sponge with good positive
ideas and images? That’s what Little Playdates will accomplish though their
serious of DVD’s. Good parents will love a “vehicle” like Little Playdates,
Little Friends and the series’ that follow, that will help young minds
develop important mental, social, and physical skills that will only help
young children grow into rock solid individuals who will be aware on many
levels of how to live in society. I see only positive from a form of media
like this. If only every piece of media could think along these lines, the
world would be a much, much better place. I give Little Playdates an A+.

  8. Liz B Says:

I thought the DVD was fantastic.  I was holding Nicholas, and noticed he was very interested in it.  As you know, I had to leave quickly afterward to meet my mutual class.  We had a cooking session here at my house.  I put the DVD on in the kitchen and they watched it while they ate.  They were laughing and admiring the cute kids and thought the whole idea was wonderful.
    Best of luck,
    Liz B

My 2 year-old loves “The Little Playdates” DVD and watches it while singing, pointing to the children and animals, and dancing along to the music. He calls it his “little friends movie!”

  10. M Maples Says:

I just wanted to let you know what a great thing this video is.  At the expo my little girl who is 6 months old would not stop watching it, which told me that I should by the video for her.  When we got her home and we put it in she was glued to the T.V the whole time.  She loves it and so do I!!

  11. DJ Russell Says:

We met you at the LDS expo on Saturday.  The kids are already excited.  They have already watched the dvd many times!  I think you have created the best “babysitter” for my kids while I do laundry etc… Excellent idea!!

  12. S Griffiths Says:

I let my grandkids watch Little Playdates when we returned from a family
trip to Temple Square a couple of weekends ago. It served as a great
babysitter and allowed us time to prepare dinner without worrying about the
kids for a few minutes. The kids were singing and dancing along with the
video. Every grandma should have one on hand. It was fun to watch them
interact with each other and to see their personalities shine.

    Susan Griffiths

  13. Torie L Says:

Thank you so much for Little Playdates! My kids have asked to watch the movie over and over. I hope it goes well for you guys. It should if other kids are as interested as mine!

    Thanks a lot!

  14. J Branham Says:

    Joanne,

Ella and Audrey love it.  Everytime I put it on at home they both love to watch it.  Audrey (16 mos now) literally dances to the different songs.

I would love a copy of the link to the news story as well as the time of the Channel 2 “Fresh Ideas” showing.

I am excited to see the great success of The Little Playdates!

    Thanks,

  15. E Rowland Says:

I just wanted to let you know that since receiving the DVD, it has become practically a permanent fixture on our TV. McGwire absolutely loves it! Each time it isover, he immediately asks to watch it again. It has been invaluable to me attimes when I need him entertained for a little while. The greatest part isthat I don’t have to feel guilty about him sitting and watching TV, because he’s not sitting . . . he’s up dancing to the music and pointing at the kids
and animals. I really have been amazed at how it holds his attention.

    Thanks,
    Esther Rowland

  16. Vickie B Says:

I bought a DVD for my grandson Derek, and we watched it together on Saturday. Derek is about 17 months old and he
watched almost the entire program without losing interest. He would dance back and forth to the music. I liked the children’s voices telling the
different values which were portrayed in the video. I think children love to hear other children’s voices whether it is in song or in word. There is
something priceless in the voice of children. We liked the activities which took place in real outdoor settings where we could see interaction between
    children that were spontaneous.
    Vickie B

  17. J Christiansen Says:

    Trent and Joanne,

My girl’s have not wanted to turn it off today.  Eden (my two year old) stands up and dances through the whole movie!  She gets so excited and says “Oh there’s my friends!”  This is a great thing that you have done.  She feels like all the kids in the show are her new friends!  We love the music, the diversity, and the lessons that this teaches our children.  Thank you!

  18. Harold T Says:

It is so refreshing to hear about people who are investing their time and resources in creating positive products for our children. I look forward to exposing my own children to this DVD.

    Good luck Little Playdates! Hooray!

  19. Denise S Says:

Our little one and her friend are having the same
experience as the other parents are expressing!
Our daughter is 2 and her friend is 2 1/2. Almost
every time her friend comes over she asks to see the
baby show. The two girls dance and giggle for a while
and then they sit and watch the rest. It is fun to
    watch them.

    Thanks again,
    Denise Samples

  20. Alton Giles Says:

Thanks so much for the DVD Rylee just loves it.  As soon as the music starts she begins to bounce and smile
She will stair at it for a while then grab a toy and keep watching the TV.  It gives me a chance to clean the kitchen and get some laundry done, while she watches.  I love the replay feature use that all the time, and probably watch it about ten times every time I put it on.
    Thanks you very Much!!!

  21. Gretchen H Says:

We purchased “Little Playdates” as a Christmas gift for our 2 year old daughter who was born with a rare genetic condition which has caused her to have significant developmental delays. Having spent much of her first year in the hospital and being busy with therapy and doctor appointments, she has had limited opportunity to interact with other children and tends to be nervous in social situations. Little Playdates is a great way for her to watch other children interacting and to get her excited about playing with other children. She smiles and giggles while she is watching it. The children are darling and the songs are many of our favorites.
    Thank you!

Hi!! My name is Sisilia Iongi and I have triplet girls that are three years old. What a hand full they can be, the funny thing is they enjoy watching the little playdates dvds and they sit through the entire dvd because they enjoy watching other kids play and go on little adventures with the children in the videos. They also love to to dance to the music and try and sing along as well. I recommend this to any parent who honestly who would like to have their kids go on a little adventure while you as a parent can honestly enjoy with them!!! This is really a good thing to have as a parent of triplet girls these videos are great!!!!

  23. Debbie A Says:

The Little Playdates DVDs are a refreshing change to the typcial children’s shows. Most children’s shows have characters putting each other down, playing pranks on each other, or have strange unchild like appearances for the characters. However, the Little Playdates DVDs show children interacting with each other in a kind and friendly manner. My children (ages 7 months to 5 years old) love watching their “little friends” play on the television. I’ve noticed a change in them since they watched the DVDs. Their interactions with each other have improved and they are happier together. I applaude the JoAnne and Trent Pettry for creating these wonderful DVDs.

  24. JoLin J Says:

We love Little Playdates! My two little boys love to watch the DVD and sing and dance with the kids on the TV. I love it because of the diversity in the DVD. As an Asian woman married to a Caucasian man I am always on the lookout for diverse DVDs for my boys. I am glad that they are able to see children from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and know that they are not the only mixed-race kids around. But it’s not just the ethnic diversity - although that is wonderful to see. I truly appreciate the fact that there are children with physical limitations in the DVD because it exposes my boys to the knowledge that there are kids out there with different physical needs and it helps to teach them tolerance and understanding. In a society that is inundating our children with violence in movies, TV and video games, it is refreshing to see a DVD of this caliber that teaches our children friendship, love, and acceptance of one another. It is showing them that we are all the same despite our differences.

  25. Mindy R Says:

The Little Playdates shows are so cute. They can totally captivate my 2 1/2 year old as well as my 4 year old. They both LOVE to sing with the songs and dance with the kids. It is the best childrens show to come into our home in a LONG TIME!!! I can put the show in and actually have a 30 minute break from the kids to get a few things done around the house. I completely believe in the shows and will continue to share them with everyone I know. They are absolutely fabulous! I feel these shows could help other kids (and parents) and it would be worth your 30 minutes to take a look and see what these shows are all about.
    Thanks so much!

  26. Haley G Says:

I have a two year old who is extremely active and is taking in everything around him. As a mother, I am always looking for things that will teach and influence him positively. He is an only child and does not have the company of siblings to learn how to share and play. When we watch Little Playdates, he is up and moving and smiling at the children on the television as they explore and learn new things. He laughs at their smiling faces and even dances to the music. What a refreshing contrast to watching other shows that he is either not interested in, or he just sits in front of the TV. I love that he is not only seeing how to interact and play with other children through watching Little Playdates, but he is also up and active, laughing and dancing along! Every mother should have a copy od Little Playdates in their DVD Library.
    Haley Gibby

  27. Wendy S Says:

We just love Little Playdates. We have seen the positive influence it has on our son. He is 18 months and has been watching Little Playdates since he was about 6 months. As soon as he was able to communicate with us he has chosen to watch this video over and over again. He loves it. When playing with other kids he shares his toys, doesn’t try to take toys away from other kids, he is not afraid of playing with other kids or animals and you can tell that he is so excited to play and learn new things. We feel it is a valuable learning tool that all infants and toddlers should grow up watching.

  28. Barbara G Says:

I am a mother of 2 children. My son who is 2 1/2 is very active. He very seldom will sit down for more than 10 minutes. When we watch ‘The Little Playdates” DVDs, he is so engrossed with the children and their activities that he watches the movie from start to finish without his attention wandering. These DVDs are teaching my children positive social skills.

I believe many people would be interested in hearing about “The Little Playdates” DVDs and what an impact they have on children.

    Thank you for your time.

    Barbara Glaittli

  29. Tiffany Z Says:

These movies are a wonderful learning tool for children about communication, play, friendship, and fun. As a mother of 3 little boys, I am constantly trying to expose them to good things that will help them be able to acquire the social skill to help them succeed in life and be a positive contributor to society. I feel “The Little Playdates” movies helps them to see, at such a young age that all people are alike and special, and that’s very important in this day and age. I believe that children are so pliable, and having a fun and positive movie in the home, can replace some of the less desirable exposure they may receive from the television. I think every parent ultimately wants good things for their children to watch, and there’s just not enough of it out there. “The Little Playdates” DVDs are unique and entertaining, and more importantly, both children and parents will love them. I know every parent would praise your name for introducing them to this movie.

    Best wishes,
    Tiffany Zarbock

  30. Yusuf and Maria K Says:

We started playing Little Playdates to our daughter when she turned 6 months old. As an only child, she was missing the interaction with other kids in a regular basis. Little Playdates has helped on fulfilling this gap. Our daughter is now 10 months old and loves watching this video.

This is the only video she watches and the only one we like. Other videos scare her with their aggressive approach to kids and over-stimulation. Because Little Playdates has minimum talk from the kids, our daughter is the one who does the talking. She really enjoys looking at other kids “just playing” and “just being kids”.

We also love the Little Playdates music CD; we sing the songs along in the car while running errands or during long trips. Little Playdates is a “must have” when your kid is ready to “interact” with other kids in the convenience of your house and it makes a beautiful present too!

  31. Karen F Says:

I have 23 month old triplets and this video is one of the few things that grabs and holds their attention. They love watching the children in the video and mimic their movements. The music is very catchy, I even find myself singing and dancing to the music. This video is not just entertainment, but an investment in my children’s future. Finally, an educational video that I feel comfortable encouraging my children to watch.

  32. Jamie Goertz Says:

I just wanted to thank JoAnne and her team for making such wonderful DVD’s for children. My daughter is 17 months old and she loves all three of the DVD’s. She actually does not want to watch any other cartoons or videos and only prefers the Little Playdates series. She is so happy and loves to dance to all of the songs. It is such a great idea to have a soundtrack of the sounds, so she can also enjoy the music in the car. Thanks so much!

  33. Kylea Parchment Says:

We received our “Little Playdates” DVD through a contest held for Celebrity Baby Blog readers. We received our DVD about 2 weeks ago & it has been a huge success! My 16 month onld son- Ellis, loves his DVD. As soon as we got in in the afternoons he brings me the remote so he can watch “Paydates” (as he calls it). We watch Little Playdates at least 3 times a day and Ellis sings along with every song. Thank you so much for such a great product!

  34. Debbi A. Says:

My 3 kids love this DVD, eventhough my 6-year-old son (Bridger) will not admit it. My 4-year-old daughter (Macy) and 18-month-old daughter (Isabel) love dancing around to the music and watching the kids. They especially love the animals and fish. We have all 3 DVDs and love all of them. I love letting my kids watch something worthwhile as compared to some of the shows for kids on TV.

  35. Janelle O Says:

My son was 10 months old when we first sat down together to watch the Little Playdates: Little Friends video. Instantly, he was hooked and loved watching the children play on the screen. He would ask to watch it again and again. He enjoyed the songs and all the activity on the screen. Now he is 20 months and we love watching the latest installment of the Little Playdates: Little Adventurers. Both of the videos have helped him learn to interact with other children. They have also helped him learn how to play and have fun just like the children on the screen. It has also shown me that any type of activity, whether big or small, can be a fun learning experience for my child and I specifically plan daily activities to not only stimulate his mind but to help him learn social and play skills too.

  36. T Lugo Says:

    Hi JoAnne!

I wanted to tell you, my 18 month old loves your DVD. It never leaves the DVD player. Everyday she says, ?Payday Payday? for Playdates. It?s great for me too, it gives me a break.

Thank you for making something so wonderful.

    Hi Joann,

Feedback wise, my sister bought the dvd for her 18 month old,

“I actually saw a Little Playdates video on Baby First TV and loved it, but had no idea how to get it. So I saved it on Tivo, and my son would give me the remote and ask to see the video. Finally I found out how to get it and I have a copy in the house and the car. These are great learning tools, and just as important, entertaining for your children.”
